When you start a discussion with your recommenders regarding the progress of your application. There’s a possibility your recommenders may expect you to evaluate what they’ve written so far. Or they may just want to verbally confirm that they’re covering the right points in their letters.

As an applicant, you need to educate your recommenders. Tell them that the most crucial thing they can do is include examples to back up any statements they’ve made. These examples are about your strengths, weaknesses, or personality traits.

Most of the recommenders — particularly those who aren’t aware of the MBA application process. They think that if they write good things about you and praise you repeatedly, that will be enough. Some of the recommenders are also under the impression that their alumni status or their notable designations or titles will carry adequate weight to make a good standard recommendation letter. But this is not true. The most excellent way for your recommenders to help you stand out from thousands of other highly qualified applicants is by showing a clear picture of who you are both professionally and personally.

Your recommenders need to share details of how you contributed to projects or give precise examples of how you interact with others or went above and beyond, these are the most essential ingredients that make for an excellent recommendation letter.

Sometimes, if your recommenders don’t feel comfortable sharing what they have written, then don’t panic! You need to trust your recommender’s ability and have full faith in them. Their experience will provide you with a strong recommendation. Once you get confirmation that your recommendation letters are received by the school then never forget to acknowledge and thank them for their efforts in helping you in securing admit from top B-Schools of your choice.
